Extent of area from the north on the south - 30 kms, from the west on the east - 40 kms. The general area of territory makes - 69830 acres, including the area of territory of Neman - 1447 acres.
The relief of Neman District represents alternation of flat and low spaces with separate hilly heights. In the District separate zones with superfluous humidifying and a low and flat relief are located, the prevalence of clay and loamy breeds on a surface promotes formation of the rivers, lakes and bogs.
Woods in territory of the District grow as separate files and sites, large forests are not present. Area of woods makes 4 % of territory. The largest forests with peat deposits are located in territory of Bolshoje Selo-, Zhilino-, Rakitino- and Michurinskij Rural Districts.
In territory of Ulyanovo-, Lounino- and Malomozhajskoje Rural districts there are bogs with insignificant deposits of peat which now are not developed.
In the District there is a ramified network of the rivers and lakes. The river Neman is the deepest and navigable river. In a southwest from a settlement Toushino Neman District is washed by the river Sheshupe. The water pool of the District is supplemented with the river Instruch proceeding through Rural Districts of Malomozhajskoje and Ulianovo. For the rivers spring high water and rain high waters a year are typically. However catastrophic flooding in the district is not present.
Ground resources of Neman District make 69,83 thousand hectares, of them agricultural ground - 45,5 thousand hectares, the grounds of the state wood fund - 3,4 thousand hectares, the area of reservoirs make 0,5 thousand hectares.
Natural minerals in territory of the district are a source of raw materials - peat, sand, clay. Except for it works on development of deposits and an oil recovery are conducted.
The automobile network of the district is submitted by roads of all administrative values, general extent of roads reaches 220 kms.

The railroad line which is taking place through the western part of area, provides reliable and a continuous communication with the regional center and districts of the region, there is an exit on a highway of the Russian Federation: in the north - through Sovetsk and the Lithuanian republic, in the east - through Chernzshevskoje ( Nesterov District) and the Lithuanian republic.
Climatic conditions of the district are defined by climatic features of the region. The climate of the region is transitive from moderate - continental to sea with relative humidity in the afternoon - 70 %, in the morning - 87-89 %, in average temperature in summertime of 17-18 degrees is higher than zero, during winter time of 13-14 degrees is lower than zero.
